RE/MAX Campaign

CJPIP participates in the nationwide Remodel RE/MAX campaign that calls on RE/MAX to stop profiting from the occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

We have asked our local Oak Park RE/MAX office to send a letter to the CEO of RE/MAX, David Liniger, asking for policies that require RE/MAX brokers and agents “to not sell, rent, or publicize properties that are built on illegally seized land in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem…”

A January 2016 report from Human Rights Watch entitled “Occupation, Inc.: How Settlement Businesses Contribute to Israel’s Violations of Palestinian Rights” directly indicts RE/MAX LLC’s business practices, by stating: By advertising, selling and renting homes in settlements, both the Israeli franchise of RE/MAX and RE/MAX LLC, the owner of the global franchise network, facilitate and benefit from the transfer of Israeli civilians into occupied territory and the associated human rights abuses, contravening their rights responsibilities.

Taking our message to the community.

On April 9th, we:
• asked the Oak Park office to send this letter to David Liniger.
• handed out several hundred fliers to passersby.
• carried these posters.
• we communicated the sentiments of this article by a former RE/MAX realtor who left the organization because of his objection to its business practices in the Occupied Territories and its refusal to be responsive to his concerns.

Other organizations are encouraged to download and reproduce our posters and to customize our flyer and letter for use in your communities with local RE/MAX offices.
